With the UAE recording a sharp spike in the number of daily Covid-19 cases, authorities have started cracking the whip on businesses that are not complying with safety measures. In the last one week, some outlets have been ordered shut, while others have been fined or warned.

Cafe shut, seven firms fined in Dubai

Dubai Economy shut down a café in Karama for flouting Covid-19 rules and ignoring physical distancing guidelines issued by the government. Seven commercial establishments were also fined as their employees failed to wear masks at work. The action was taken after a resident alerted the authorities about the violations. Read more

Wedding hall ordered shut in Ras Al Khaimah

The Ras Al Khaimah Department of Economic Department shut down a wedding hall and slapped it with a fine (unidentified) for failing to observe the anti-Covid-19 precautionary measures. A wedding ceremony was held without the mandatory prior approvals. They also failed to have guests adhere to social distancing and mask use protocols. Read more

The Dubai Economy shut down a crowded restaurant and fined a gym for breaking Covid rules. The restaurant in Satwa was closed after a free meal distribution led to a crowd. The gym was fined after a spot visit revealed disregard for social distancing protocols. Employees were also found without masks. Read more

12 outlets shut in Fujairah

The Dibba Al Fujairah Municipality shut down 12 facilities for failing to comply with the precautionary and preventive measures. The outlets violated the health requirements and some of their workers did not have health cards. The outlets were caught flouting the rules during inspections to ensure compliance with safety measures. ?
