The govt is doing its bit; we should do ours

The UAE government was swift in taking corrective and preventive measures early on to control the spread of Covid-19. Restricted movement and sanitation of public areas, roads, and streets were done efficiently keeping the safety of the public paramount.
In comparison to other countries, the UAE was able to control the spread and fatalities, and Dubai allowed normalcy to return to our lives in a few months. The frontline doctors, nurses, and health workers have ably supported the police and the local municipal bodies.
After these efforts I am exasperated by the indifferent response by the general public who openly flout the recurring plea by the authorities to wear masks when outdoors and follow the basic hygiene when indoors. We should acknowledge with gratitude the herculean efforts by the government to keep us and our children safe. We can at least follow and practise the minimum requirements as stipulated by the government for our safety and not brush it off as trivial.
Let's not forget that frontline personnel are risking their lives for their noble efforts. -Gopal Nair, Dubai
