Modi government could have done better in managing multiple crises

'Nero fiddled while Rome burnt' is congruent with 'Modi fed peacocks while India weeps' as the Indian economy nosedives and its citizens are pushed into chaos. Pandemic is an "act of God", yes. But with the country's finance minister taking refuge in such an explanation while discussing the shrinking economy is bewildering to the say the least.
The prime minister is either blissfully ignoring the plight of his people and their immediate survival needs or is more concerned about reinforcing his political stranglehold.
The media is under the government's control. The political leaders are not questioned on many fronts such as unemployment, health care, border confrontations with China, or startling rise in Covid-19 cases. The ministers and team of spin doctors are beguiling the people with their lies and false promises. In the history of India no government has led the country into such a disarray. Only providence can normalise the future, the opposition is too weak and divided. - Gopal Nair, Dubai
