Estonia, nation for the future

Filed on February 23, 2021

Estonia and the UAE are both pro-business and with modern and consumer-driven economies.

Relations between the Estonian Republic and the United Arab Emirates have developed dynamically, culminating in the opening of the Estonian Embassy in Abu Dhabi in 2019. In this short time, the UAE has been visited by the Estonian President, the Minister of Defence and a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament, and a number of business delegations. Led by Estonia and the UAE, a Global Business Summit took place in mid-December 2020, where more than 40 participating countries sought and offered digital solutions to better cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. Both the UAE and Estonia are leading in the implementation of e-government and digital solutions in their regions. The trusted cooperation that has developed between Estonia and the UAE, has brought our people and countries closer together.

Business potential in the UAE

Estonia and the UAE are both pro-business and with modern and consumer-driven economies. With our shared agenda in embracing and advancing innovation, there is a huge opportunity for Estonian companies to bring their world-class innovations and services to the UAE market. Estonia also has unique expertise in the research, development and management of cybersecurity solutions and systems that could benefit the UAE.

In line with the UAE, Estonia has a strategic focus on sustainability through an integrated national health service, promoting culture and gender equality, and establishing effective waste management and recycling.

Tourism in Estonia

Natural escapes are only moments from anywhere, authentic culture lives in the streets, and world-class dining is everywhere. Thanks to its compact size, Estonia tailors its time to the traveller.

Estonia at Expo 2020

At Expo 2020 the Estonian pavilion is built on the three pillars: digital society, smart solutions and sustainability.

Named ‘the most advanced digital society in the world’ by Wired magazine, it was natural that we chose Estonia’s digital society as the basis of our pavilion. Our love of nature and innovation led to our third thematic area —environmentally friendly solutions.

Our pavilion will have a programme presenting how the use of the latest digital and smart solutions can help move forward quickly in terms of development, and ensure a functioning society for future generations.

About 40 Estonian companies and organisations will be integrated into the Estonian pavilion with their services and products.

Estonia Independence Day wishes

I convey my best wishes to the Estonian community in the UAE and thank everyone who has congratulated the embassy and me personally on the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. I hope that the opportunity to travel will open again soon I invite you all to discover Estonia, my beloved homeland.
