The must-have guide for all discerning investors is out now

The Business Year (TBY), a global media group that has been providing investors, businesses, and governments with first-hand insights into the world's most dynamic markets for over a decade, has launched The Business Year: Dubai 2020.

The Business Year's eighth edition on Dubai is the most comprehensive to date; the publication features more than 200 interviews with public officials and industry executives. Produced during an unprecedented moment for the world, the landmark publication provides an overview of the current business landscape and how authorities and key business players are countering a host of challenges, in particular to the challenges related to the postponement of Dubai Expo until October 2021, through sound policies and commitment to the future of the emirate.

Mirroring Dubai's emphasis on innovation, The Business Year: Dubai 2020 introduces an overhauled structure that redefines the scope of The Business Year's more traditional chapters. A first for any of TBY's publications is the Islamic economy thread. Interwoven throughout the edition-much like the Islamic economy's contributions to Dubai's GDP, The Business Year: Dubai 2020 takes a more in-depth look at Islamic finance, the Halal industry, and Islamic lifestyle.

Some never-before-featured interviewees include Pope Francis, a strong proponent of inter-faith cooperation, and Henrik von Scheel, the often-dubbed originator of the Industry 4.0 concept who is committed to helping Dubai lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution drive.

A recurring theme seen throughout the publication is how all the various stakeholders in Dubai had the foresight to prepare for a post-Covid-19 world in advance on the back of innovation, digital transformation, and diversification. Coupled with the slow eastward shift of global power from the US and Europe that was already underway in recent years, Dubai is now poised to lead a global conversation in innovation. Henrik von Scheel hedged his bets on Dubai leading the world through the fourth industrial revolution long before Covid-19. Now, as the world is thrust into this transformation, Dubai is leaps ahead and has the opportunity to establish further prominence and leadership.

Some of the standout interviews featured in the publication include; Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, former Minister of Economy; Fahad Al Gergawi, CEO, Dubai Investment Development Agency; Hamad Buamim, President & CEO, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, Executive Director, Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau; Essa Kazim, Governor, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC); Les Male, CEO, Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX); Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA); Saud Abu Al-Shawareb, Managing Director, Dubai Industrial City (DI); Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Digital Economy, Artificial Intelligence, and Remote Work Applications; and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman & CEO, DP World.

On the occasion of the launch, Neslihan Aydagu¨l, TBY's Managing Director for the UAE, said: "The start of the new decade prompts bigger-than-usual thoughts about the future. Coincidently, this publication comes out at a crucially important time for Dubai and the rest of the world. Overall, the UAE has been quick to respond to global economic pressures and has shown resiliency in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"As the world starts to emerge from the grips of this crisis, Dubai will be quick to reaffirm its position as a leading global investment destination. The Business Year: Dubai 2020 serves as a detailed guide to economic activity in this prominent Emirate. It also highlights the market forces that will likely shape the local business environment throughout the decade."

TBY is present in over 35 countries. It conducts hundreds of interviews a week with top decision-makers in the Middle East, Latin America, Central, and Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe.

The Business Year: Dubai 2020 will be distributed extensively, both domestically and globally, and will reach an even larger audience via TBY's powerful network of digital platforms. All interviews and content will also be available on key business information platforms including Bloomberg Terminal, Refinitiv Eikon, Dow Jones Factiva, and FactSet, as well as PressReader and Google Books.
